On Saturday September 25, 2010, the Pittsburg Police Department will be participating in a program sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) focusing on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets. The national take-back day will provide an opportunity for the public to surrender all expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. This program is anonymous and no requests for identification or questions will be asked. All solid and liquid prescribed medications, as well as over the counter medication will be accepted. Intra-venous solutions, injectibles and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.
The collection site will be located in front of the Pittsburg Police Department at 65 Civic Ave. and will be available from 10:00am to 02:00pm this Saturday September 25, 2010.
