The community is invited to join this year’s GREAT Pittsburg Clean-up of Kirker Creek on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Each year, a group of dedicated volunteers come together to clean up litter and dumping in a section of our own local Kirker Creek. This year, the clean-up effort is in need of more volunteers. The event builds community, provides an opportunity for wholesome entertainment, and promotes an appreciation for and stewardship of the natural world.
This year, volunteers will meet at Buchannan Park at Yosemite and Harbor Streets at 9:00 AM. Interest participants, particularly groups, are encouraged to help the City plan to supply sufficient gloves and snacks by registering at (925) 252-4114. Volunteers should wear appropriate shoes and clothes for possible wet, muddy conditions.
Volunteer Release Form are required on day of the event. Parent signatures are required for volunteers under 18 years of age. The Volunteer Release Form is available by clicking here. The Minor Child Volunteer Release Form is available by clicking here. Service Credits for graduation are available.
The event is hosted by Partners for the Watershed, The Dow Chemical Company, and the City of Pittsburg in sponsorship with Keep America Beautiful and Keep California Beautiful. Event information is available under the City’s Upcoming Events online at http://www.ci.pittsburg.ca.us . Questions may be directed to the Environmental Affairs Division at 925-252-4114.
